"The Penguin Book of Rounds" by Rosemary Cass-Beggs

Hundreds of rounds were composed in England between the sixteenth and nineteenth centuries to be sung in clubs and taverns and enjoyed by enthusiasts much as folk songs are enjoyed today. They need no accompaniment and there are no special parts as all the voices sing the same tune. The only difficulty lies in finding rounds to sing. This collection fills that gap, offering a rich variety of English rounds that give, as Thomas Ravenscroft said in 1609, 'harmony to please, variety to delight, facility to invite thee.'
