First published in 1896, “The Innocents Abroad” is a travel book written by Mark Twain. Within it, Twain recounts his trip aboard the ship “Quaker City” as it travelled through Europe and the Holy Land in 1867. The book sold more copies than any other Twain wrote in his life and remains among the best-selling travel book of all time. A fantastic example of classic travel literature by one of America's greatest men of letters. Samuel Langhorne Clemens (1835–1910), more commonly known under the pen name Mark Twain, was an American writer, lecturer, publisher and entrepreneur most famous for his novels “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer” (1876) and “The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn” (1884). Other notable works by this author include: “The Gilded Age: A Tale of Today” (1873) and “The Prince and the Pauper” (1881).
