“The Misfits: A Royal Conundrum” by Lisa Yee, illustrated by Dan Santat

Hey there! Have you ever felt like you didn’t quite fit in? Then you’re going to love this book.

Olive is the new kid at a very unusual school, and she meets a team of crime-fighting underdogs called the Misfits. Each of them is a little bit strange, but they are all great at something. When a notorious thief sets out to steal priceless treasure (gems! cats! general decorum!), the Misfits have to step in. Their school is in danger of shutting down, and it may be the only place that has ever felt like home.

It’s funny, fast, and packed with pictures by Dan Santat, who has won the Caldecott Medal. The author, Lisa Yee, is a Newbery Honor winner, and it’s a great one to read together with a grown-up or all on your own.
