“Zoe in Wonderland” by Brenda Woods

Have you ever felt like the quiet one in a loud family? Then meet Zoe.

Zoe Reindeer is eleven, and she thinks of herself as “just Zoe.” Her older sister is perfect, her little brother is a genius, and Zoe would rather blend in with the plants at the family business, Doc Reindeer’s Exotic Plant Wonderland. In her daydreams, she’s brave and bold. In real life, she’s shy, and her best friend, Q, is about to move away.

Then a tall astronomer from Madagascar walks into the nursery, looking for a baobab tree. His visit sets something in motion, and Zoe starts to wonder if her first real adventure is just beginning.

It’s warm, funny, and easy to see yourself in, and the author, Brenda Woods, is a Coretta Scott King Honor winner.
