“Kissing Kosher” by Jean Meltzer

A secret babka recipe, an undercover hire and a grudge between two bakery families make this one a treat. Avital Cohen is barely holding her family’s Brooklyn bakery, Best Babka, together. Chronic pelvic pain has already pushed her photography dreams and her love life aside, so when charming Ethan answers her Help Wanted ad, he seems like an answer to her prayers.

What she doesn’t know is that his grandfather owns Lippmann’s, the kosher baking giant that wants her grandfather’s famous pumpkin spice babka recipe. Rivals to lovers, flour on every surface, and a heroine whose health struggles are handled with real honesty: Kirkus called it a romance that doesn’t flinch. If you loved “The Matzah Ball,” Meltzer’s warmth and humor are all here.
