"Mid-Flinx" (Adventures of Pip & Flinx) by Alan Dean Foster

Where Flinx and his flying minidrag Pip go, trouble follows. It has been the law of their lives through years of unsought danger and galactic intrigue, and this time the trouble comes with a bank account. A wealthy and thoroughly evil collector wants Pip for his private zoo, and he has the resources to make it happen.

So Flinx does what any sensible fugitive would do. He points his ship at uncharted space, picks a random course, and hopes his pursuers can’t follow a trail he doesn’t even know himself.

The gamble lands them on Midworld, a verdant planet smothered beneath an immense jungle. Every leaf, vine, and creature is unknown, and every last one of them is deadly. It’s a perfect hiding place, right up until it isn’t. Their refuge is in danger of discovery; the hunters are closing the distance, and the only ally Flinx and Pip have left is a wild, untamed world that may kill them before anyone else gets the chance.

Alan Dean Foster blends fast-moving space adventure with lush, dangerous worldbuilding and the easy charm of a boy and his loyal, venom-spitting companion. It’s a perfect pick for fans of classic science fiction, jungle survival, and heroes who never quite manage to stay out of trouble.

Whether you’re a longtime follower of the Pip and Flinx series or a newcomer looking for a place to jump in, this is a thrilling ride from one of science fiction’s most dependable storytellers. Grab it before the jungle claims it.
