“Lightfall: Shadow of the Bird” (Book Two) by Tim Probert

QUEST LOG, DAY 2

Where we left off: After a battle that nearly cost them their lives, Bea and Cad wake up in a hidden settlement of the Arsai, mysterious creatures who can glimpse the future.

The mission: Stop Kest, the mythic bird who stole the sun.

The details: It’s the second book in the Lightfall graphic novel series, with gorgeous full-color art, a lovable heroine, and a world full of surprises. Best for readers about eight to twelve who have already read “The Girl & the Galdurian.”
