"The Mystery at Lilac Inn (Nancy Drew)" by Carolyn Keene

This edition of the original 1931 story has an introduction by Mildred Wirt Benson, who reveals that she is the real person behind the 'Carolyn Keene' pen name for many of the Nancy Drew mysteries. She also talks about the evolution of the character of the spunky girl 'detective' over the decades. 

Beginning in the 1950s, many of the Nancy Drew Mysteries were rewritten or condensed for a 'modern' audience. This version, published by Applewood Books, returns to the original manuscript as it was first published in 1931.
